Our Story

Technology Executive Women was created for Australian women in senior leadership roles who need a safe space to connect, seek advice, get sponsorship and support.

Our goal is to significantly reduce the female attrition rate in the technology workforce and to help members achieve gender pay parity.

An early version of the group formed at ANZ Bank in Oct 2020 with 8 leaders from the Digital domain. Within 6 months, there were 45 technology women leaders from a variety of technology domains meeting fortnightly to share challenges and seek advice from peers. Although the group grew significantly through 2021, it stalled when founding members left ANZ Bank.

Technology Executive Women was created as a private company in 2022 by co-founders Samantha Davies and Leigh Gibson.

Despite many initiatives encouraging women into technical roles, women remain largely underrepresented in senior technology leadership positions.

Key insight - Women leave technology roles at a rate of 1.8x.

The drivers:

  1. Pay parity
  2. Flexibility
  3. ‘Perceived incompetence'
