Empowering and supporting women leaders in technology requires a multi-faceted approach.
Technology Executive Women was started to do exactly that. Technology Executive Women was created for Australian women in senior leadership roles who need a safe space to connect and promote sponsorship and mentoring. Our goal is to significantly reduce the female attrition rate in the technology workforce and to help members achieve gender pay parity. Despite many initiatives encouraging women into technical roles, women remain largely underrepresented in senior technology leadership positions. Women leave technology roles at a rate of 1.8x.
An early version of the group formed at ANZ Bank in Oct 2020 with 8 leaders from Digital meeting fortnightly. Within 6 months, there were 45 technology women leaders from a variety of technology domains meeting to share challenges and seek advice from peers. The group grew significantly through 2021 and there was demand from people working in other businesses so Technology Executive Women was created as a private company in 2022 by co-founders Samantha Davies and Leigh Gibson.
When people join together and support each other, incredible things can happen!
